Volunteer Zoom Meeting Organizer for Cancer Patients

Position Summary:

As a Volunteer Zoom Meeting Organizer, you will play a vital role in supporting cancer patients by organizing and facilitating free virtual meetings. These meetings will provide valuable information, support, and a sense of community to individuals affected by cancer. We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of cancer patients. This role requires excellent organizational skills, empathy, and the ability to coordinate virtual events effectively.

Responsibilities:

Meeting Organization:

  • Collaborate with the program coordinator to determine meeting topics and schedules.
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers to secure their participation in the meetings.
  • Set up and schedule Zoom meetings, ensuring all necessary details are included (date, time, meeting link, etc.).
  • Create and distribute meeting invitations and reminders to participants.

Technical Facilitation:

  • Serve as the host/facilitator during Zoom meetings, managing the session and ensuring a smooth experience for participants.
  • Provide technical assistance to participants who may encounter issues joining or participating in the meetings.
  • Familiarize yourself with Zoom features and troubleshoot minor technical problems that may arise during meetings.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring all participants feel comfortable and respected.

Content Support:

  • Assist in developing meeting agendas and identifying relevant topics and resources.
  • Conduct research to gather valuable information and resources related to cancer treatment, survivorship, coping strategies, and well-being.
  • Collaborate with the program coordinator to curate and organize educational materials to be shared during the meetings.
  • Help compile and distribute post-meeting summaries, resource lists, and additional information to participants.

Participant Engagement and Support:

  • Foster a supportive and engaging environment during Zoom meetings by encouraging participant interaction and discussion.
  • Actively listen to participants' questions, concerns, and experiences, offering empathy and support as needed.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to additional resources or professionals when specific needs arise.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and ensure a safe and respectful space for sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for supporting cancer patients and making a positive impact.
  • Familiarity with Zoom or willingness to learn and become proficient in its use.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Empathetic and compassionate nature, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual team environment.
  • Respect for participant confidentiality and commitment to creating a safe space.
  • Prior experience in organizing virtual events or facilitating support groups is a plus but not essential.
