For individuals volunteering with Cancer Care Parcel (a UK Limited Company)
At Cancer Care Parcel, we are deeply grateful to everyone who gives their time, skills, and energy to support our mission: creating a trustworthy, non-judgemental, and compassionate space for people affected by cancer. Our volunteers are vital in helping us provide practical support, comfort, and information to those navigating the cancer journey.
This statement outlines the mutual understanding between Cancer Care Parcel and our volunteers.
1. Our Commitment to Volunteers
- We value all contributions—no matter how big or small.
- We understand that our volunteers offer their time freely and without expectation of financial reward.
- We provide a supportive and inclusive environment that welcomes diversity and respects individuality.
- We offer certificates of achievement, upon request, to recognise the work you’ve done and what you’ve accomplished as part of your contribution.
- Where relevant, your work may be published or promoted to support your portfolio or experience development, with appropriate credit given.
- There is no obligation to commit to any minimum hours or tasks—any contribution is voluntary and appreciated.
2. Nature of the Volunteer Relationship
- Volunteering with Cancer Care Parcel is entirely voluntary and unpaid.
- Volunteers are not considered employees or workers of the company and are not subject to employment law provisions.
- This arrangement is not intended to create any legal obligations, and there is no contract of employment.
- There is no expectation or requirement of continued service, and either party may end the arrangement at any time without notice.
3. What We Ask of Our Volunteers
- That you act with kindness, respect, and integrity in all interactions connected to Cancer Care Parcel.
- That any content created (e.g., writing, research, support material) aligns with our values: compassionate, inclusive, honest, and fact-based.
- That you respect the privacy and dignity of anyone affected by cancer, including their stories and experiences.
4. Ownership and Credit
- Content created as part of your volunteer work may be edited or published by Cancer Care Parcel to meet our standards and mission.
- We aim to give credit where appropriate, particularly when volunteers are using this opportunity to build a public writing or professional portfolio.
- All materials used by or created for Cancer Care Parcel remain the intellectual property of the company unless otherwise agreed in writing.
5. Insurance and Liability
- As a small business operating at a loss and focused entirely on reinvesting to support our mission, we do not currently provide volunteer insurance.
- Volunteers are responsible for their own wellbeing and actions during their involvement.
6. Our Shared Purpose
We are all united by a single aim: to provide compassionate, trusted, and non-judgemental support to people affected by cancer. Whether you're contributing articles, research, creativity, or behind-the-scenes support, you are part of something meaningful. We thank you for standing with us.
