Cancer

Cancer. A word that can strike fear in the hearts of even the bravest of us. It's a disease that no one plans for, yet so many find themselves facing it head-on. For the team at We Care Sierra Leone, this is a battle they are all too familiar with, and they are determined to ensure that no one has to face it alone.

"Cancer was not part of the plan," shared the founder of We Care Sierra Leone, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing palliative care, nursing, and caregiving services to patients in the Makeni Bombali District. "If we had to choose what disease to come, and most of us shouldn't have any to come."

But the team at We Care Sierra Leone knows that the reality is often much harsher. "If it happens, it doesn't mean you should die or be left alone," they affirm. The founder's own personal experience with His mother battle with cancer taught him a valuable lesson – sometimes, the people you once considered closest can disappear when you need them the most.

"My mum's cancer taught me how everyone you once consider will forget you easily when you are struck by critical health conditions,"

the founder shared. It was this heart-wrenching experience that inspired the creation of We Care Sierra Leone, a team determined to be the constant, unwavering support that patients and their families so desperately need.
