Our goal is to provide an uplifting message of hope to brighten their day. Through this program, volunteer card makers from all over the United States create handmade paper crafting cards. We collect and distribute these handmade cards free of charge to identified individuals who may benefit from support. People who are facing cancer need more than medicine; they need inspirational messages of support that these cards can bring.
Each year, 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with cancer. Research has taken enormous steps towards finding a cure, but the burden of the disease continues to impact many. Card Care Connection concentrates on an equally important part: providing words of comfort and support at a much needed time.
When a person is diagnosed with cancer, their diagnosis is only the first challenge; their psychological well-being sometimes gets overlooked. Often times, cancer arrives without warning and leads to extreme vulnerability. Adult patients may feel especially isolated as they go through treatment, as few support services exist for this age group. Card Care Connection serves individuals who are at any stage of the disease process and may be struggling with day-to-day coping skills. Studies show that psychosocial support can significantly improve the coping skills of individuals with cancer, providing an uplifting message of hope and encouragement. Receiving cards and care packages can help individuals with cancer feel connected with their community and foster a sense of strength.
Card Care Connection is devoted to enriching the lives of those affected by cancer. We work with hospitals, hospices, senior agencies, nursing homes, and individuals to identify potential recipients. This organization is designed to collect cards and care packages and send them to individuals who are faced with cancer. Our goal is that each delivery brings the recipient a brighter day. A recipient can be referred by a friend, family member, or agency representative. Self-referrals are also accepted.
We support patients going through any type of cancer and at any phase in their treatment. By participating in our surveys, you are helping us provide medical providers and cancer support service providers with
information on what support and services you need most. This information is a powerful tool in determining where resources and time are best spent. It allows us to reach out for these services in individual communities and gather together other community partners with a similar mission to help. We thank you for your time and willingness to contribute to this effort.
If you are a patient currently going through treatment or know someone who is in need, please request a free patient care kit.
Care kits are added weekly but supplies are limited.
