Kirsty Wales' expertise focuses mainly on cancer and lymphoedema-related therapies. As a qualified oncology massage therapist, ScarWork™ therapist, and Breast Cancer ScarWork™ Specialist Therapist, Kirsty is also certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Her passion lies in using specialist massage therapies to help people during and after cancer treatments, aiming to maximize their health and well-being. Kirsty strives to reduce recovery times and improve overall health while managing her clients' anxiety and stress levels.
Kirsty's fascination with anatomy began in childhood, inspired by images of Christiaan Barnard performing heart transplant surgery. This early interest grew into a passion for understanding the human body, leading her to pursue extensive studies in specialist massage therapy. Her ongoing commitment to learning has led her to train with renowned experts, including Susan Findlay at the North London School of Sports Massage and Emma Holly of Restore Therapy.
In 2023, Kirsty collaborated with Susan Findlay to co-deliver the Oncology Massage course across the UK and is currently developing her own one-day courses for therapists.
Kirsty’s mission is to support as many people as possible undergoing cancer treatments, operations, or recovery. Her specialist post-operative and rehab massage therapies, along with medical devices, provide effective relief from the debilitating effects of these treatments.
Before moving back to Scotland, Kirsty was an active volunteer at The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre in Crawley, West Sussex, where she volunteered for over three years. The centre was awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Services in 2021, and Kirsty received a personal award for her continued support during the pandemic.
