Ricky Frazer is a medical oncology consultant at Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC) in Cardiff, specializing in renal cancer, skin cancer, and acute oncology. He serves as the clinical lead for both the Acute Oncology Assessment Unit and the Immunotherapy Toxicity Management Service at VCC. Ricky is also one of the founding members of the UK Renal Oncology Collaborative (UK ROC).
He recently completed a postgraduate certificate in acute medicine at the University of South Wales, earning a distinction. Ricky was a Welsh Clinical Leadership Training Fellow with the Wales Deanery and is a Founding Associate Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. With a strong passion for education, he is currently a Royal College of Physicians (RCP) College Tutor and Faculty Lead, as well as an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University. He holds a Master’s in Medical Education and was awarded the National Munro Medal by the RCP for excellence and leadership in education.
Ricky is the Vice President of the National Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN) and co-leads the monthly National Immuno-Oncology Education Forum. He played a key role in the development of the national "Practical Management of your Immuno-Oncology Patient" (PMI-OP) educational series, focusing on immunotherapy identification and management.
In 2023, Ricky was named Individual Leader of the Year for Velindre NHS Trust, and the South East Wales Immunotherapy Toxicity Team, which he is a part of, won awards for education, research, innovation, and improving patient experience. The team also received the prestigious Macmillan UK National Innovation Excellence Award in Glasgow in November 2023. Additionally, Ricky serves as a Voluntary Clinical Advisor for Macmillan.
